A lovely, tiny, good-looking sweetheart

Asus desktop Eee pc set for August launch Written by Rene Millman Sunday, 22 June 2008 Asus has certainly done its bit to ensure that all the world's geeks get one tiny computer each, but now the ickle notebook maker wants to sell us ickle desktop PC full of Windows XP goodness. It is expected to unveil its Asus Eee Box in August and it has plenty of green credentials, such as a low-power Intel Atom N270 processor running at 1.6GHz, although other eco-friendly info about this device is shrouded in mystery. Specs-wise, it comes with 1GB of memory, 80GB of storage, wireless (802.11n) and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity. There is also support forSD, SDHC, MS, MS Pro and MMC card formats. As well as XP, the machine also comes with a Linux-based Asus Express Gate OS to let users get on the internet in less than seven seconds, it claimed. Asus also claimed that the Eee Box would be almost completely silent in operation and small enough to fit on the tiniest of desks. Pricing info has yet to be detailed.

好可愛arrr...唔知個spec係唔係好用呢?有冇高人過來comment一下?

Asus出完Eee PC (先唔好理佢係唔係最好用最靚的atom機!)之後, 佢既知名度真係高左好多倍. Eee PC夠晒diagnostic & loud呢, 佢的外形似乎也定了Asus之後的product的personality and outlook - portable, minimal & reasonably practical. 睇返其他gagdets的brands,有一個鮮明的brand personality好梗要, 因為gagdets已經唔係tech savy的專利 (我這些連router都唔識set up的人也有一部EeePC去旅行用, 先不要想係邊個送 XDDD), 科技只會愈行愈快, 今日出完的tech听日即刻有其他公司跟, 仲會跟得比原本的好; design是留給有creativity的公司的, 要cross over也先得要說個brand的design/ personality如何才得cross over, 這些都是要努力經營的. 所以一個brand好難在外觀, 科技, 配套各各方面都盡善盡美, 否則成本太高了 (成本也會轉嫁到消費者上, 明知gagdets 一兩年就換一次,幹嗎要一部集所有功能優點於一身的呵?很貴呢!) 真係要鮮明地specialize一個範疇, 其他的reasonable就好了, 就好似Sony Corporation的老闆所講, 佢地唔再和其他brand鬥先進, 反而他們選擇鬥outlook. 結果今日真係會有人因為要做"T-系型人"而用多500hkd買一部影相冇咁靚的Sony T-系相機; 也有人花多幾千蚊買一部Vaio, 只為有粉紅色! 當然也有學校堅持要耐用實際, 跟Lenovo IBM簽contract好讓Freshmen們未來的3年唔洗"換機" (因為T43 IBM係一部從table-level跌落地都冇事的tough-機! HKU的undergrad就知lol!) 要賣得的話, 不太貪心的話, gagdets brands專注好一個方面, 在哪方面多給人一點驚喜 (粉紅色gagdets就是一個很平易的驚喜~噴層油而已!)就可~ 講返Asus, 雖然話gagdets都仲係以minimal的design為trendy, 不過我覺得Eee PC的外形就太過似Apple了, 反觀 Eee Box的花紋outlook係"gagdets-系" (都算係gagdets既)中幾特別. 不過花紋始終target的市場都比較窄. 咁就要睇睇Asus的gagdets系放心機走美觀路線還是繼續"portable, minimal, reasonably practical"?
